Last week we had our second online rehearsal, and while never as good as singing in person with the rest of the choir, it is good to be doing something positive in these challenging times.
Our MD James, surprised us with a short message from none other than John Rutter. Mr Rutter is the composer of three of the carols in our Christmas program, "All Bells in Paradise", The Angels Carol" and "The Nativity Carol" so for him to send us a personal message was to quote an overused but appropriate word , awesome! Many thanks for that James. Ugie voices are looking forward to some interesting projects ahead. First we are obviously rehearsing our Christmas program which we hope to record and post for your listening pleasure. Then we are embarking on, to quote Monty Python, "Something completely different!" A project involving Making Music.org, the Aberdeen Saxophone Orchestra and the composer and conductor Ben Lunn. ore on that in the coming weeks. Ill leave you with a random Christmas fact. William the Conqueror's coronation was on the 25th December 1066. Until next time, stay safe and keep singing.

Ugie Voices are very happy to reveal that our joint application the Aberdeenshire Saxophone Orchestra to take part in “Adopt a Music Creator” has been successful! Click the link below to read the full article! May 4th, the public gallery was standing room only as the public awaited the trial of the year. The jury filed in, the drunken judge (literally) fell into the room and stumbled to his seat much to the annoyance of the usher desperately trying to keep order. Once there was silence in court, the defendant emerged to plead his case. It’s showtime... Ugie Voices’ first spring concert saw Peterhead Sheriff Court transformed into a Gilbert and Sullivan Operetta, this sell out performance in memory of our late chairperson Marion Macfarlane was a showcase of popular songs, show tunes and classics. Gilbert and Sullivan’s ‘Trial by Jury’ and ‘Songs from the Shows’ Come along and support your local singing group! Wow! What a talented bunch of members we have. Not only singers but many great cooks too as was demonstrated at our Pot Luck Supper Social evening on Tuesday night.
A veritable feast for all and a rare chance to sit and chat without upsetting our Musical Director! Special thanks to Heather for keeping us all right in abiding by the hall rules and regulations. Our members were saddened by the death of our longstanding member Marion Macfarlane in February.
Marion served as our President and Vice President under our former banner of “Peterhead Choral Society” from 2009 to 2016, her enthusiasm and organising skills keeping us all on our toes. Marion was a keen supporter of the transition of Peterhead Choral Society to “Ugie Voices” and it is regrettable that she will not share our new direction with us. A stalwart of the soprano section, Marion loved singing and her cheery smile and ready wit will be missed by all. We are currently rehearsing for our spring concert in early May, no spoilers but you can look forward to a varied evening of music from Gilbert & Sullivan, Queen and more! Come back for a behind the scenes peek at our rehearsal...
